Full HVAC System Replacement in Utah: What's Involved
Replacing AC + furnace + coil as a matched system: what changes pricing, what's included on every quote, the rebate stack, and how to pick efficiency tier.
Variables
What changes the number
These are the specific factors that determine your quote — knowing them lets you compare quotes apples-to-apples instead of guessing. For your real installed price, use the get an instant hvac quote link below — it accounts for all of these automatically.
System tonnage
Sized via Manual J. Most Utah homes need 2.5–4 tons.
Efficiency tier
Base tier: 14.3 SEER2 AC + 80% AFUE furnace. Upgraded: 16+ SEER2 + 96%+ AFUE + variable-speed blower. Premium: 18+ SEER2 inverter + 97%+ AFUE modulating furnace.
Ductwork condition
Existing ducts under 12 years old in good condition: included as-is. Older or undersized: rework adds time and materials.
Indoor unit location
Garage / basement install: standard. Crawlspace, attic, or closet install with limited access: adds 4–8 hours of labor.
Scope
What's included vs. extra
Compare this list against any other Utah quote you receive — line items hidden in one quote and itemized in another are how the same job ends up “cheaper” on paper but more expensive after add-ons.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is full system replacement always better than just replacing the broken half?
+
If both halves are 12+ years old: yes, full replacement wins on TCO and AHRI matching. If one half is new (under 5 years): replace just the failed half and ensure refrigerant + airflow compatibility. Between 5–12 years: it's a judgment call we make on the quote based on remaining life + ductwork condition.
Can I replace the AC now and the furnace later (or vice versa)?
+
Yes. We design the install so the new half is matched to the existing half AND ready for a future matched upgrade. Just know that AHRI ratings + warranty terms only apply when both halves are matched — partial replacements may not qualify for the highest rebate tiers.
